Warriors‘ Mistakes Hand Vikings a Comfortable Win
Vienna remain the only unbeaten team in the AFLE as London’s errors prove too costly
Final Score: Vienna Vikings (5-0) at London Warriors (1-4) – 62:10
Warriors Start Bright, Then Unravel
London actually began this one well. A 12-play drive lasting nearly five minutes kept the Vikings offense on the sideline and showed exactly what the Warriors are capable of when they execute. But it did not last. Poor tackling, costly turnovers and big plays allowed in all three phases made life far too easy for a Vikings team that needed no second invitation. A punt return touchdown, a pick six and a strong interception return all went Vienna’s way, and the game was effectively over before the Warriors could regroup.
Holmes Cruises, Hrouda Finishes the Job
Ben Holmes had one of his more relaxed afternoons in a Vikings uniform. He threw for 203 yards and four touchdowns before taking a well-earned rest at halftime. Backup quarterback Nico Hrouda came on and barely missed a beat, posting a perfect passer rating and adding three more touchdowns of his own. The Warriors defense had no answers for either of them, and the final score of 62:10 reflected just how one-sided the second half became.
Into the Bye Week
Both teams now head into the bye week, but the circumstances could not be more different. The Vikings get a chance to rest, recover from any minor injuries picked up in the opening weeks and fine-tune what has already been a near-flawless start to the season. For the Warriors, the break comes at a good time for different reasons. At 1-4, there is work to do, but the bye week gives them the chance to grow together as a group and reaffirm what they are capable of when things go right.
