Warriors Complete 13-Point Comeback to End Paris Lights‘ Playoff Dreams

Two fourth quarter interceptions prove fatal as London inch closer to the playoffs

Final Score: Paris Lights at London Warriors – 26:34

Lights Start Bright

Paris Lights came into this game knowing a win would keep their playoff hopes alive, and they played like it from the first whistle. Two early touchdowns gave them a lead and the belief that this could be their day. The Lights defense gave everything it had, forcing turnovers and keeping London in check for long stretches.

Warriors Grind Their Way Back

London never panicked. The Warriors‘ rushing offense was a force throughout, wearing down the Lights defense yard by yard, while their own rushing defense was exceptional at the other end, holding Paris to just 20 rushing yards for the entire game. The Lights‘ special teams were a problem, with the field goal and point after touchdown unit struggling badly at key moments, and those missed points would prove costly.

Agu Wrecks the Game

Defensive end Jezreel Agu was a one-man wrecking crew. Three sacks and five tackles for loss from a single player is a remarkable stat line and perfectly captures how disruptive he was all afternoon. The Lights simply had no answer for him.

Two Picks Seal It

When it mattered most, the Lights cracked. Two fourth quarter interceptions from Paris quarterback Evan Hillock handed the Warriors the momentum they needed. The decisive blow came from defensive back Stef Atidzah, who returned one of those picks for a pick six and put London firmly in the driving seat. The Canadian connection of Hillock and wide receiver Seth Morgan had shown promise throughout, but it was not enough to overcome the two critical errors at the worst possible time.

What’s Next

The Paris Lights‘ playoff hopes are all but over as they head into Week 13 to host the Berlin Thunder. The London Warriors travel to Panthers Wroclaw for a Week 1 rematch, a chance to show just how far they have come since that opening day defeat.
