Vienna Vikings dominate Berlin Thunder in Week 7
The Vienna Vikings continue to dominate the American Football League Europe. After beating the Berlin Thunder in the season opener, the Vikings completed the season sweep with another convincing victory (45 – 7), improving to 6-0 while dropping Berlin to 2-4.
Once again, Vienna’s offense proved too much for the Thunder to handle.
RB Wiesigstrauch shines against former team
Running back Albert Wiesigstrauch enjoyed a memorable afternoon against his former club. He scored two rushing touchdowns in the first half as Vienna built an early lead and never looked back.
Wiesigstrauch finished this impressive outing with a lot of production, averaging more than 11 yards per carry as Berlin struggled to contain the Vikings‘ ground game.
QB Holmes leads another explosive performance
Quarterback Ben Holmes continued his outstanding season. Behind another dominant performance from the offensive line, Vienna piled up more than 500 yards of total offense, showcasing the balance that has made them the league’s most dangerous attack.
Thunder offense can’t keep up once again
Berlin’s offense never found its rhythm. Quarterback Jakeb Sullivan completed only three passes and threw two interceptions before halftime, putting the Thunder in an early hole they could not escape.
Sullivan finished with just over 100 passing yards, much of that production came after the game was already decided. Wide receiver Niklas Schumm was Sullivans top target today with three receptions for 37 yards.
The Vikings have now beaten Berlin twice this season, and both games have followed a familiar script. Vienna’s offense was simply too efficient, while the Thunder had no answer on either side of the ball. At 6-0, the Vikings remain the team to beat in the AFLE.
