The Firenze Red Lions have parted ways with Head Coach Bill Shuey

The Firenze Red Lions have made a significant move, parting ways with head coach Bill Shuey and appointing Mike Mitchell as his replacement. The change comes as the Red Lions look to turn their season around and signals a clear desire within the organisation to find a new direction.

The Red Lions announced the departure of Shuey and confirmed that Mitchell will take charge of the team moving forward. Alongside the head coaching change, the club have also restructured their coaching staff. Paul Wulff steps in as offensive coordinator, while John Leijten takes on the role of defensive coordinator. It is a comprehensive reset at the top of the coaching structure and one that suggests the Red Lions are serious about making the most of the weeks still ahead.

Firenze have had a difficult start to their inaugural AFLE season and the results have not reflected what the organisation had hoped for. The appointment of Mitchell and a new staff gives the players a fresh voice and a new set of ideas to work with, which can often be the spark a struggling team needs to find its footing.

With a significant portion of the season still remaining, the Red Lions have time to make this work. How quickly Mitchell and his staff can get their message across and translate it into results on the field will be one of the most interesting storylines to follow in the weeks ahead.
