Could London’s First Win Be the Catalyst They’ve Been Waiting For?

The London Warriors finally have their first win. Now the real question is: was this the moment their offense finally came alive?

One Game Was All it Took to Change the Narrative

After a 0-3 start, the London Warriors had one goal: get a win. What happened against the Firenze Red Lions was something else entirely. From the very first quarter, this wasn’t just a team grinding out a result, it was an offensive explosion that the AFLE hadn’t seen from London all season. Quarterback Karé Lyles was at the center of it all, delivering a performance so dominant it earned him the Week 4 MVP award. The Warriors didn’t just win. They announced themselves.

And yet, for those who had been paying attention, this announcement wasn’t as surprising as a 0-3 record might suggest. What it did do, however, was finally change the narrative. No more „potential.“ No more „nearly.“ The London Warriors have delivered and the story around this team shifted overnight. Because the talent was never in question. As far back as Week 1 against the Wroclaw Panthers, the Warriors had already shown a glimpse of what they were capable of. The result didn’t go their way, but Lyles threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns in a performance that made one thing clear: there is something real being built in London. The wins weren’t coming. But the signs were always there.

The Foundation Is Homegrown. The Ceiling Is Unlimited.

What makes this win even more remarkable is the context in which it was achieved. The London Warriors are still operating with just three import players. Several spots remain open, and the roster is far from complete. Yet this victory was built on the shoulders of homegrown talent, developed week by week, game by game. Quarterback Lyles, one of the biggest offseason additions for the franchise, directs the attack with confidence and efficiency. Protected well by his offensive line, he spreads the ball around and against Firenze, he allowed London to dictate the pace from the opening quarter. The result: a season-high 51 points and the most productive offensive performance in team history.

The contributions came from everywhere. Running back Andy Owusu, physical and difficult to contain, put two scores on the board. Wide receiver Kevin Laryea continued to prove why he is one of London’s most dangerous weapons in space, adding a touchdown and just under 100 receiving yards. What stood out most was the balance: no single player carried the load, and Firenze never found an answer for it.

And through it all, the homegrown players around the imports are learning at an accelerating pace. With teachers like Lyles and American wide receiver Marcus Libman, the young core is absorbing, adapting, and improving with every snap. If the Warriors can do this now, with an incomplete roster and import spots still to fill, the ceiling is genuinely exciting.

The win against Florence may well be the moment that turns this season around. But the hardest test arrives when the unbeaten Vienna Vikings, 4-0, travel to London this weekend. Beyond that, the schedule offers real opportunity: the Firenze Red Lions, the Alpine Rams, Paris Lights, and Berlin Thunder all still to come. Games the Warriors can use to prove, once and for all, that this team has finally found itself.
