Firenze Red Lions unveiled as Italy’s AFLE franchise

The final lineup of the American Football League Europe continues to take shape. The Italian franchise has officially revealed its name and logo and will enter the league’s first season as the Firenze Red Lions.

With this announcement, the organization marks the beginning of a new era for Italian football on the European stage.

A new identity for a historic city

The unveiling was presented on the team’s social media channels with an emotional video and powerful words that connect the city’s history with the future of the franchise.

In their launch message, the club highlighted the deep roots and proud spirit of Florence:

“Before the stadiums, before the lights, before the game, there was a city built from marble, fire, and vision. A city where art was forged like steel, where minds built empires, and where greatness was never an accident. Centuries have passed, but the spirit has never left.
In this city, strength is tradition, passion is inherited, and pride is non-negotiable. Standing above it all is a lion – the guardian of the city, the symbol of defiance, the protector of legacy. We are the Firenze Red Lions.”

Pride, passion, and ambition

With the lion as their symbol, the franchise clearly connects itself to the strength, history, and identity of Florence. The name “Red Lions” reflects both power and pride, while also signaling the team’s ambition for the upcoming AFLE season.

As the inaugural season approaches, the Firenze Red Lions now move from announcement to action. With a strong identity and a clear message, the Italian franchise is ready to write its first chapter in the American Football League Europe.
