Vienna Vikings sign German linebacker Luca Siebert

The Vienna Vikings have added another import player to their roster, signing German linebacker Luca Siebert ahead of the 2026 season. Siebert joins from the Stuttgart Surge, who won the European League of Football championship last year.

Three strong seasons with the Surge

Siebert spent three seasons in Stuttgart and improved year after year during his time there. Across 36 games he recorded 119 tackles, five sacks, 11.5 tackles for loss, one interception and seven pass breakups. Those numbers show a linebacker who can do a little bit of everything on the defensive side of the ball.

What the coaches say

Head Coach Chris Calaycay is excited about what Siebert brings to the Vikings‘ defense:

„With Luca we add another versatile playmaker to our defense. He covers an incredible amount of ground on the field, can pressure and cover effectively, and has a natural instinct for tracking down the ball carrier. His nose for the ball and defensive versatility will be a great addition to our unit.“

Siebert’s own words

The German linebacker had clear reasons for choosing Vienna. The coaches, the organization and the location were what convinced him to sign. His goal for the season is equally straightforward: winning the championship. And what is he looking forward to most? The overall experience of being a Vienna Viking.

With Siebert on board, the Vienna Vikings continue to build a dangerous and versatile defense ahead of the 2026 season.
