Tight End Show Leads Vienna Vikings to Dominant Win Over Alpine Rams
Bierbaumer and Seikovits each catch two touchdowns as Vikings cruise to a fourth straight win
Final Score: Alpine Rams at Vienna Vikings – 20:47
Rams Never Get Going
The Alpine Rams could not have asked for a worse start. Their opening drive stalled immediately and ended in a punt, which the Rams then fumbled, handing Vienna the ball just 34 yards from the end zone. That set the tone for the entire first half. The Rams punted four times and found the end zone just once, while the Vikings converted four of their five offensive drives into touchdowns. On third down, the Rams converted just one of seven attempts and finished the half with fewer than 100 total offensive yards. Complete and total Vikings dominance.
Holmes and the Tight Ends Put on a Show
The story of the game was the connection between Ben Holmes and his two star tight ends. Florian Bierbaumer and Bernhard Seikovits each caught two touchdown passes from Holmes, who had another outstanding afternoon, racking up 323 passing yards and five total touchdowns in just three quarters of work. He also added a rushing touchdown, further cementing his place at the top of the league’s rushing touchdown leaderboard.
Backups Get Their Chance
With the game well won by the fourth quarter, the Vikings were able to rest their starters and hand valuable playing time to the backups. In a long season, that kind of experience depth could prove important down the line.
What’s Next
The Vikings travel to London in Week 5 to face the Warriors, looking to keep their perfect record intact. The Alpine Rams return home to host the Paris Lights, a game they will be keen to use as a springboard after two difficult outings.
