The Programm’s young players get a taste of AFLE football with Berlin Thunder
At Berlin Thunder’s first AFLE home game against Vienna Vikings, a group of young players from The Programm were on the sidelines as ball boys and girls. A small moment with a big meaning for grassroots football in Berlin.

More than a club
The Programm is the American football division of SV Rot-Weiß Viktoria Mitte 08 e.V. in Berlin and is building something that is meant to last. Offering both tackle and flag football for kids, youth and adults, the focus is on long-term development over short-term results. Through school programs at Berlin schools, they bring football directly into the city’s neighborhoods, reaching kids where they already are. The goal is not just to develop athletes, but to help young Berliners grow as people, learning responsibility, reliability and what it means to be part of a team.
Thunder shows support
Berlin Thunder donated equipment to The Programm, a gesture that gives the initiative the kind of foundation it needs to train properly and grow sustainably. For a program at this stage of its development, having the right gear in place makes a real difference to what is possible. For Thunder, investing in the next generation of Berlin football is part of what it means to represent the city.
A day on the big stage
The young players of The Programm who helped out on matchday got more than just a memory. They got to experience up close what the sport they are growing up with can look like at the highest level in Europe, and to play a small part in it themselves. For a program built around the idea that sport shapes people as much as it entertains them, an afternoon like that carries real meaning.
