Rhein Fire Bounce Back With Dominant Win Over Paris Lights

A Hillock injury changes everything as Fire run out comfortable winners

Final Score: Paris Lights at Rhein Fire – 0:35

Defenses Dominate the Opening Quarter

This one looked like it might be a thriller. Both defenses came out with intensity, and the first quarter was a battle from start to finish. The numbers tell the story: just 23 combined total yards across the entire opening period. Every snap was contested, every yard hard-earned, and neither offense could find any breathing room.

Hillock Goes Down

The turning point came through misfortune rather than football. During one of those hard-fought defensive plays in the first quarter, Paris Lights quarterback Evan Hillock injured his throwing hand and was forced off the field early in the second quarter, replaced by backup Marouane Dardour. Hillock did battle his way back onto the field at one point, but the pain proved too much to continue. Losing their starting quarterback changed the entire complexion of the game.

Fire Pull Away

Without Hillock, the Lights offense could no longer give their defense the support it needed, and Rhein Fire took full advantage. Jonathan Scott, Kenji Bahar and Giacomo de Pauli all found the end zone on the ground, combining for four rushing touchdowns, while Bahar also connected with Kaylon Geiger Sr. through the air for a fifth score. Paris had no answers, and the final scoreline of 35:0 reflected the growing gap in the second half.

What’s Next

Paris Lights will be sweating over the fitness of Hillock heading into Week 5, when they travel to face the Alpine Rams. Rhein Fire, meanwhile, stay home for a German derby against the Berlin Thunder.
