Firenze Red Lions sign former West Virginia receiver Devin Carter

The Firenze Red Lions have found their second American offensive player, signing wide receiver Devin Carter. Carter brings college pedigree, professional experience and a refined skill set to the Red Lions‘ receiving corps ahead of the 2026 season.

A college career that caught NFL attention

Carter made a name for himself at both NC State and West Virginia, putting together performances strong enough to attract interest from NFL scouts. That led to a stint with the Carolina Panthers, before Carter went on to gain further professional experience with the BC Lions in the CFL and the Birmingham Stallions, adding valuable reps at a high level of the game.

A complete receiver

What makes Carter an exciting addition is the quality of his game across all areas of the field. His route running is his standout strength, with a natural ability to find the gaps between defenders and create separation at all levels of the field. He is dangerous on short routes but also has the speed to threaten defenses on intermediate and deep routes, giving his quarterback a versatile and reliable option wherever the ball needs to go.

Building chemistry with McKay

At the Firenze Red Lions, Carter will line up alongside quarterback Matthew McKay, the man who will be putting the ball in his hands throughout the 2026 season. Building that connection and developing chemistry between the two will be one of the key storylines to watch as the Red Lions prepare for their debut campaign.

With Carter on board, the Firenze Red Lions are putting together an exciting offensive unit with real playmaking ability ahead of the 2026 season.
