Ex University of Toledo running back Lucas Laroche joins the Alpine Rams

The Alpine Rams have added a new weapon to their offense, signing French running back Lucas Laroche. Laroche brings an interesting and varied background to the Swiss franchise as they prepare for their debut season in the AFLE.

A journey through the American college system

Laroche’s path to professional football took him through some well-known programs in the United States. He spent time at Santa Monica Community College, where he initially lined up as a wide receiver, before moving on to Ole Miss and most recently the University of Toledo. Along the way he also demonstrated his academic credentials, earning Dean’s List honors at Santa Monica and making the Chancellor’s List Honor Roll at Ole Miss on two occasions.

A former rugby player with athletic versatility

Like several players in the AFLE, Laroche comes from a rugby background, giving him the athleticism and physicality that translates well to the running back position. That combination of rugby instincts and American football experience makes him an intriguing addition to the Alpine Rams backfield.

A new weapon for an explosive offense

Laroche joins an Alpine Rams offense that is building with ambition around quarterback Gabriel Cunningham. His arrival adds another dynamic option to a backfield that is shaping up to give opposing defenses plenty to think about in 2026.
