Fresh off a statement win, London meets a well-rested Alpine squad

The London Warriors have a chance to turn their season around. With their win over the Firenze Red Lions, they leapfrogged their Week 8 opponents, the Alpine Rams, in the standings. Will the Rams reclaim 3rd place, or will London pull away for good?

London’s chances look good if quarterback Karé Lyles keeps finding his favorite target Marcus Libman and running back Tyrrell Bovelle gets going out of the backfield. But watch out for the Rams. They come out of their bye with a mission: flipping the second half of the season in their favor.

What we can likely expect? A head-to-head battle between two first-year franchises, decided in the game’s final seconds. The predictions favor Alpine to win this battle of the newcomers. But as we all know: American football is played until the final whistle.

Paris arrives in top form, but Vienna remains the league’s only unbeaten team

Paris Lights showed in Week 7 that they can hang with the league’s top teams. Against Vienna, though, a strong first half won’t be enough; Paris will need a performance that goes beyond anything they’ve shown so far this season. Quarterback Evan Hillock threw for four passing touchdowns, connecting with his new favorite target Florian Larose on three of them.

At the same time, the Vienna Vikings remain undefeated, and so far no team has found an answer for their offense. If Paris can go the distance and sustain that level for four full quarters, they’ll have a real shot at pulling off the upset. Side note: AFLE’s prediction model gives the Vikings an 88 percent chance of winning, with a projected score of 35-21. The odds don’t lie: this is a daunting task.

Winless Firenze visits a Berlin team looking to bounce back after a tough loss

Two teams looking to turn things around. For Berlin, the playoffs are still very much in reach. For Firenze, it’s about finally turning the corner, and they’ll do it with a new face under center, as playmaker Harry Roubidoux makes his debut. Wide receiver Keith Coffee is also back in the lineup, and we’ll soon see how strong his connection with Roubidoux already is.

Berlin’s defense will need to show up. 299 passing yards and 263 rushing yards allowed last time out tell a tough story. Quarterback Jakeb Sullivan will also need to find his way back to his early-season form. Cutting down on turnovers in particular will be key, giving weapons like wide receivers Jon Cole, Niklas Schumm, and Bais Kouanda the chance to find the end zone.

Berlin Thunder leads the all-time series 1-0, and AFLE’s matchup forecast suggests it could be 2-0 after this one, giving Berlin a 74 % chance to win. Firenze will need to prove that 26 % is underselling them.

This week’s marquee matchup: Wroclaw battles Rhein Fire

Different divisions, same goal: the playoffs. Rhein Fire come into this one refreshed off their bye week, looking to build on their statement win over the Alpine Rams. Quarterback Kenji Bahar spread the ball to eight different receivers in that game, finishing with five passing touchdowns in a commanding victory; a performance Rhein Fire will look to carry into this matchup.

For the Panthers, it’s about playing four full quarters of football. The key battle: Jameson Wang against Rhein Fire’s defensive backfield. Will he keep his interception-free streak alive, or will players like Christian Matthew and Marius Kensy give the Panthers‘ offense a long day?

The predicted score? 26-30 for Rhein Fire. The Panthers will surely want to have a say in that.
