Berlin Thunder add defensive back Will Johnson III

Berlin Thunder have announced their first American signing for the upcoming the American Football League Europe season with the addition of defensive back Will Johnson III.

College career and development

Johnson began his college football career at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, where he spent two seasons and appeared in a total of 18 games. During that time, he contributed with tackles, pass breakups, and takeaways, showing his ability to make plays in the secondary.

He later transferred to Carson-Newman for his junior season, where he played in 11 games and recorded 31 tackles, two pass breakups, and an interception that he returned for a touchdown. Johnson finished his college career at Houston Christian, continuing to compete at a high level.

Across his college career, he played in 35 games and built a reputation as an active and physical defensive back who can contribute in coverage as well as against the run.

First experience in Germany

Last season, Johnson already gained his first experience in German football when he joined the Hildesheim Invaders in the German Football League. There, he adapted to the European game and continued to develop his skills on the field.

Ready for the next step in Berlin

Now, Will Johnson III takes the next step in his career by joining Berlin Thunder. The American defensive back is expected to strengthen the secondary and bring athleticism and playmaking ability to the defense.

With Johnson on the roster, Berlin Thunder add an international defensive talent as they prepare for the new season.
