American Football League Europe Names krone.tv as Free-to-Air Broadcast Partner in Austria

The American Football League Europe (AFLE) is proud to announce a broadcast partnership with krone.tv, the free-to-air television channel of Austria’s largest media group, Kronen Zeitung. Under the agreement, krone.tv becomes the official free-to-air home of the Vienna Vikings in Austria throughout the AFLE’s inaugural 2026 season. krone.tv will broadcast every single Vienna Vikings game live and in full – every home game and every away game – free of charge and available across all of Austria. From kickoff to final whistle, fans will be able to follow their team week after week.

Bringing the Vienna Vikings to Every Living Room in Austria

With krone.tv on board, every Vienna Vikings fan in the country – from Vorarlberg to Burgenland – can follow the team on a national platform, without a paywall, without a subscription, and without missing a single play.

With its strong reach across Austrian households and its close ties to one of the country’s most trusted media brands, krone.tv is the ideal partner to bring American football to a broad mainstream audience and to grow the sport in Austria for years to come.

“Bringing every single Vienna Vikings game – home and away – to free-to-air television in Austria is a defining moment for our league and for the sport in this country. The Vikings have one of the most passionate fan bases in Europe, and they deserve to follow their team without barriers. Together with krone.tv, we are giving every household in Austria a front-row seat to the AFLE,” said Moritz Heisler, Managing Director and COO of the AFLE.

Kickoff Just Days Away

With the first whistle of the AFLE’s inaugural season only days away, the partnership between the AFLE and krone.tv will go live with immediate effect. Week 1 will be opened by the Vienna Vikings, who will host Berlin Thunder on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM (CEST), broadcast live on krone.tv. The Vikings’ journey will continue every week of the season, all the way to the AFLE Gold Bowl on September 6, 2026.

“American football has developed an enormous following in Austria, and the Vienna Vikings are at the heart of that growth. With the AFLE, we are bringing a top-tier international competition to our viewers – live, free-to-air, and on a platform that reaches all of Austria. Showing every home and away game of the Vikings on krone.tv is a clear commitment to Austrian sports fans and to the future of the sport in this country,” said Fabienne Lampe, Head of Communications of the AFLE.
