American Football League Europe Brings American Football to the Shores of Mallorca
The American Football League Europe (AFLE) is proud to announce a landmark moment in European American football: for the first time in league history, a regular season game will be played outside the home stadiums of the competing teams. On August 22, 2026, the London Warriors will take on Rhein Fire at the Estadio Balear in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The AFLE Mallorca Game will be staged under the banner “Battle at the Beach” and brings the league to one of Europe’s most iconic destinations, uniting American football with the spirit of summer in the Mediterranean.
A First for the AFLE and for European American Football
The AFLE Mallorca Game is more than a sporting event. As a truly pan-European league, the AFLE is not bound by a single country or a single city. This game represents the freedom to bring American football to new audiences, new markets, and new environments. The Estadio Balear, with a capacity of 6,500 seats, will host what is set to become one of the most unique and memorable matchups of the 2026 inaugural season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM (20:00 CEST).
Battle at the Beach: Where Britain Meets Germany
The matchup between the London Warriors and Rhein Fire brings together two storied franchises from Britain and Germany. The London Warriors currently hold one of the league’s toughest records this season, but their history tells a different story: between 2011 and 2025, the Warriors qualified for BritBowl 12 times and won seven championships. Rhein Fire are one of the most successful franchises in modern European American football. Both franchises carry deep traditions and an ambition to win, making Mallorca the perfect stage for their encounter on neutral ground.
Moritz Heisler, Managing Director and COO of the AFLE, said: “We are excited to bring the AFLE to Mallorca for the very first time. Hosting a game outside our home venues is a significant operational undertaking, and this is a tremendous opportunity for the league to grow beyond its home markets. Thanks to our partners, we’ve been able to bring this ambitious project to life, and this event promises huge attractiveness for fans both on-site and around the world.”
